Amongst the dozens of special shows scheduled are Bryan Cook’s hilarious “Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction”—which has gained national recognition after its breakout success at last year's Bridgetown—Samantha Varela’s show “Picture This,” in which comedians perform while being illustrated live by top animators and cartoonists and the Bridgetown debut of Mike Schmidt’s long-running podcast “The 40-Year-Old Boy.” “Crappy Cinema Council” descends from Brooklyn, and Los Angeles sends its mainstays “Put Your Hands Together,” “Holy F***,” and “The Super Serious Show.” Fans will also be treated to Nato Green’s improvised comedy battle “Iron Comic” and a stage appearance from Mike Burns’ popular Twitter character in “Dadboner & Friends, You Guys.”
About Bridgetown Comedy Festival
Since its inception in 2008, Portland's Bridgetown Comedy Festival has grown to become one of the largest and most beloved comedy events in the country. The festival has hosted over 500 performers throughout its history, including Patton Oswalt, Marc Maron, Janeane Garofalo, Maria Bamford, Todd Barry, and Fred Armisen. The lineup for the 2013 festival features Bridgetown’s signature blend of world-famous headliners, up-and-coming performers, and the Pacific Northwest’s top talent.
Festival venues, focused primarily along Hawthorne Boulevard, include the Bagdad Theater, Mt. Tabor Theater, the Hollywood Theater, and the Hawthorne Theatre, in addition to smaller and more informal performance spaces within the neighborhood. Audience members can see any of the dozens of shows over the course of the weekend with a single wristband; they can quickly hop from seeing a sold-out show in a 500-seat venue to seeing a national headliner in an intimate, 20-seat performance space on a bar’s back patio.
Voted Best Comedy Festival by Punchline Magazine, Bridgetown is the premier event showcasing comedy's biggest names and rising stars.
